Sustainable Investment in Regenerative Agriculture: SWEN Terra, the New Strategy of SWEN Capital Partners

SWEN Capital Partners has launched SWEN Terra, a sustainable investment in regenerative agriculture designed to accelerate the ecological transition and preserve biodiversity.

This innovative financing strategy addresses a major challenge: more than 70% of European soils are currently degraded, threatening agricultural productivity and the health of ecosystems.

A €200 Million Fund Dedicated to Soil Regeneration

With an initial closing of €40 million, SWEN Terra aims to raise €200 million to support agricultural projects that can restore soil quality and reduce the use of chemical inputs.

This sustainable investment in regenerative agriculture is already backed by major institutional partners such as MACIF, Abeille Assurances (Aéma Groupe) and Suravenir.

An Investment Model for Regenerative Agriculture

SWEN Terra plans to make minority equity investments in:

  • Farms already committed to regenerative agriculture,

  • Conventional farms transitioning to sustainable practices,

  • Infrastructure for processing, logistics and distribution linked to sustainable agriculture.

The goal is to finance around ten agricultural companies, each investing in five to ten farms, reaching nearly 100 European farms in total.

GreenPods: The First Flagship Project

The first investment announced targets GreenPods, a French developer specializing in regenerative agriculture, particularly in tree crops and nuts.

GreenPods plans to invest €30 million between 2025 and 2028 to acquire five farms, build a processing facility, and control the entire value chain.

Dual Objective: Environmental Impact and Financial Performance

Classified as Article 9 under the EU SFDR regulation, the fund aligns with the biodiversity goals of the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

This strategy demonstrates that a sustainable investment in regenerative agriculture can successfully combine financial returns with a positive environmental impact, while encouraging the next generation of farmers.
